Gary Young with Farrells and Aracdis is designing the masterplan for a 750 hectare sustainable Garden Town of up to 10,000 homes connected by public transport and cycle networks to Westenhanger railway station. Housing, employment, health, and social infrastructure will be integrated with existing settlements, to create a whole place set in the context of surrounding landscape, heritage and community. Green infrastructure will create open space for active lifestyles, landscape setting for housing in woodlands and riverside landscape, natural areas for biodiversity and connectivity to surrounding Kent landscape; north downs, saxon shore way, historic parks and buildings, footpaths, cycle ways and bridle paths.
Masterplan and designs for 300,000 m2 logistic warehouse park developed over 25 years, creating high specification logistic platforms incorporating roof mounted PV solar renewable energy, laminated timber structure and creating the brand identity of Gazeley Germany with fading blue elevations.
Designs for villas in the Middle East with Farrells providing templates for masterplans. The proposed villas in 30m walled plots have standard layouts with architectural elements articulated using patterns and forms derived from the local traditions, numeric orders and the natural environment.
Gary Young with Farrells designed the masterplan for A2 Dominion and Cherwell District Council providing 6000 true zero carbon homes, local centres, education, community, retail & business uses. The award winning exemplar phase for 400 homes was granted planning permission in 2012. Construction was completed for a first group of 100 homes with residents moving in 2016.,with a further 100 homes per year currently being completed.
